About the Author

As a mother, I am especially passionate about identifying and reducing the chemical load on our children and future generations.

Athena Thompson has over 24 years experience as a Natural Health Specialist with undergraduate and graduate degrees in Natural and Environmental Health Sciences. Athena previously established and managed her own Natural Health Clinic in England before moving to the United States. A mother herself, she specializes in environmental health relating to children’s issues.

As a certified Bau-biologist™ (Building Biologist), Athena is considered a leading proponent in this internationally recognized approach to healthy construction. She is also an Advisory Board Member of the International Institute for Bau-biologie and Ecology based in Clearwater, Florida.

To encourage a more health conscious approach in the building industry, Athena co-founded Humabuilt™, Sustainable Technologies for a Changing World . Humabuilt consults with architects, builders, developers and individuals to create healthier built environments, as well as providing affordable, high-performance products and solutions that enable people to become more self-reliant.

Athena received her B.A. from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado where she was a faculty member. She received her Masters in Natural Health Sciences from the University of Natural Medicine in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
